We build these. Try one.
This is a working MCP connector hosted by Plugboard — not a mockup. It answers questions about live issue data from the public GitHub API through a remote MCP server at getplugboard.com/api/mcp-github. No login, no credentials, public data only.
01One question this connector answers right now
“Which open issues in modelcontextprotocol/typescript-sdk have gone 30+ days without activity?” The forms below call the tools on the live endpoint. Every response comes from the GitHub API at request time.
Triage stale issues
Calls find_stale_issues on the live endpoint.
Look up one issue
Calls get_issue on the live endpoint.
Served live by /api/mcp-github on this site. Rate-limited per IP. Only the three listed public repositories can be queried.
02Under the hood
Built with the official MCP TypeScript SDK (v1.30.0). A single bundled serverless function serves the MCP StreamableHTTP protocol; each tool call queries the GitHub REST API at request time.
POST https://getplugboard.com/api/mcp-github
MCP tools/list → list_issues, get_issue, find_stale_issues
SRC GitHub REST API, queried at request time
AUTH none — public data only
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| list_issues | List issues in a public repo: state, labels, sort, pagination. Pull requests excluded. |
| get_issue | One issue with full detail and its comment conversation. |
| find_stale_issues | Triage helper: open issues with no activity for at least N days, oldest first. |
Verified 2026-09-22: a real MCP client connected to the production endpoint, listed the tools, and cross-checked issue #2844 record-for-record against the GitHub API (number, title, state matched). Error cases — unknown issue numbers, repos outside the allowlist — return clean tool errors. Full test transcript kept with the project source.
03What it proves — and what it doesn’t
This demo proves
- Plugboard can build and host a working, read-only MCP connector.
- The full chain works: provider API → remote MCP server → tool calls answered live.
- It can be wired into a public page anyone can try without signing in.
This demo does not show
- Customer authorization (OAuth) — this demo uses public data, so there is none.
- Private-data tenant isolation — nothing private is involved.
- A connection inside Claude or ChatGPT — that needs the account owner’s action in their own settings.
