Poe's official creator docs give a dedicated setup guide to connect Claude Code to Poe instead of Anthropic directly. Claude Code then speaks its native Anthropic protocol to api.poe.com and bills against your Poe subscription points.

02How to connect

Poe

1. Get a Poe API key at poe.com/api/keys. 2. In your shell profile: export ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL="https://api.poe.com", ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN=$POE_API_KEY, ANTHROPIC_API_KEY="" (must be explicitly empty). 3. Run 'claude' in your project directory. 4. Verify with /status.
