01What it does

Lets Claude search your Gmail and answer questions from your email content, with citations back to the original messages. It is read-only: Claude cannot create, send, or modify emails. ChatGPT offers a Gmail app that can search your inbox and draft replies. Also available as a connector for Perplexity.

02How to connect

Claude

In Claude, open Customize and go to Connectors, find Gmail, click Connect, then sign in with your Google account. Requires a Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plan.

ChatGPT

Open the ChatGPT apps page, add the Gmail app, and sign in with your Google account to let ChatGPT search your inbox.

Perplexity

In Perplexity, open Settings (or Computer) > Connectors, select Gmail / Google Calendar, and complete the OAuth flow granting contact, calendar, and email permissions. The connector then appears on the prompt bar and is usable by Computer and Scheduled Tasks. Enterprise admins can disable it org-wide.
