Metabase ships a built-in connector that connects directly to your Metabase instance. Point Claude or ChatGPT at it and they can search your metrics, models, dashboards, and questions, then run queries against them, always scoped to what you are allowed to see in Metabase.
02How to connect
Claude
Turn on the connector in Metabase under Admin, AI, connector, then point Claude at your instance's /api/metabase-mcp endpoint and sign in with your Metabase account.
ChatGPT
With the connector enabled, switch on the ChatGPT client toggle in Metabase's connector settings and connect ChatGPT to your /api/metabase-mcp endpoint over OAuth.
